XIII MEDAWOMEN FORUM 2021

On November 19th, 2021 I participated in the XIII Mediterranean Women Entrepreneurs Forum along the most representative businesswomen and women entrepreneurs from more than thirty Mediterranean countries.

I had the chance to be Chair of the panel "Women Innovation: Invest in Women Entrepreneurship", where we tried to identity future needs and areas where technology has yet to offer a solution for women-led businesses.

A double question was asked about what, after COVID-19, National or local Governments are doing to support financing Women Entrepreneurs and, at a local level, what are the organization’s supporting plans for Women Entrepreneurs. These were some of the most interesting conclusions:

“Community of Women that help others with training, innovation through Technology, as well as obtaining micro-credit loans, oriented to gender financing empowerment & crow funding, without ideas and best practices supported by the national or local Governments.”

Lina Tsaltampasi | President of Greek Association of Women Entrepreneurs, SEGE (Greece).

“There are small grants between 1.500 and 3.000€ from Municipalities for Women Entrepreneurs. At a national level, there are also loans for Women Entrepreneurs at special and better conditions. We are also proud to announce that Women Entrepreneurs in Montenegro represent around 23% of total entrepreneurs.”

Ljubica Kostic-Bukarica | President of Businesswomen Association, POSLOVNA ZENA (Montenegro).

“Women Entrepreneurs in Turkey have increased from 4% to 13% in the last 20 years which are very good figures. There is an increase on Women access to Finance and Financial Inclusion to enter markets and create new opportunities, although suffering some financial market constraints. From around 10’5 million new jobs in Turkey, 60% are occupied by Women.”

Emine Erdem | President of Women Entrepreneurs Association, KAGIDER (Turkey).

Giving some solutions for women based on innovation that could support success as entrepreneurs, and the facilitation of a dialogue between women technology innovators, consultants and regulators is a must to accelerate women-led businesses growth.
